Phillips 66 pond leveler
Over in the industrial section of the east bay, there’s a refinery that does…something with the dregs of oil production. I’m not entirely clear what, but a beaver dam was flooding one of the roads into their place. So trucks exiting the highway would roll into this flooded zone at speed loaded with exotic chemistry—it wasn’t optimal. The irony is that in the entire beat-up little stream, almost the only place that could support a beaver was right here by the road. Enter the pond leveler—I built the cage at home, tossed it in the truck and rolled over there. The dense undergrowth made things a little rough, and the only photos come from a phone, but 6 hours or so later the problem was solved. And then not too long after…the beavers left because the drought dried up their pond. Oh well, can’t win ’em all.
